I have a term for people who pick and choose parts of The Bible for their religion to make sense. They are called Cliffnote Christians. They take highlights from the book and that represents their religion. Though what they do not realize is if one thing is wrong in The Bible, that makes their god wrong.

Keight, hopefully this will help you. You helped me see through the fog of religitard delusion. You personally. Your videos. So did Penn Jillette, Matt Dillahunty and the Atheist Experience, NonStampCollector, and Thunderf00t (I know he's not your favorite, but he and AronRa made a big difference to me on the scientific level.) But you and Dusty Smith speak from a basic, no bullshit, shoot-from-the-hip gut level that really appeals to my sensibilities. Thank you.

Thanks for never giving up. With folks like me, theist, it takes a while to chip at the brick wall that was laid down for years. Mainly because most of my peers told me to throw away logic and that God doesn't work with logic. Many times I've been the subject of ridicule because I was too "heady." That I studied the Bible to tear it apart, and I use to be ashamed of it.

"Hey you, don't help them to bury the light. Don't give in, without a fight!"
The Pink Floyd just came to mind.

It's a long process Ms. Dance. Religious belief is deeply embedded into the psyche, especially when your exposed to it at a young age. I left my church at 30, officially had my name removed from church records at 39. I considered myself an atheist at 43. Religion is a mind fuck it takes a long time to un-fuck the mind of a theist. You are making progress if they are "on the fence" or at least listening and thinking about your argument.

Don't dismiss the moderate "fence-sitters." They are the majority. Not the vocal Majority, but still. Keep in mind the "other side" is also reaching out to the "fence-sitters" trying to get them to be the unreachable "Devout."
You never see most of the good you are doing. It's not the ones who are talking nonsense back at you that you are helping - it's the thousands who watch and never make a comment, but who are taking it all on board. It's not the spectacular "I used to be a Christian, but thanks to BD I'm saved!", but the ones who in church think "H'mm, that crazy broad on YT was right - maybe this doesn't hang together so well." Like most teaching, +you+ will never see the fruit.

@Wilfire1961 You're probably right...and I really only make a video like this once a year, when it just gets under my skin, yanno? Then I go back to makin' vids as always; seems like SOME folks took this vid to mean I was thinking of giving up. Heh...nope. I'm still in it; just needed to vent. :)
Thanks for watching!

I appreciate what you do, but I have question for you. Surely you must have considered this possibility when you started this, right?

@ambervig Actually, if you look, I make a video like this about once a year, where I just...kinna lose it on theists; what little civility and tact I had goes out the window entirely for a vid and I have to do the cranky-shouting equivalent of shaking my head sadly in disgust.
...then I go back to normal.

It's always a good idea to keep trying with theists. When I was still very, very much a theist, I smugly told my ex-girlfriend that "you have to believe in *something*." She calmly, simply said, "No, I don't." No attempt at persuasion, just an offhand comment that blew me away, and sat on the backburner in my mind. Flashforward a few years, and I was testing the atheist waters, scared, but unable to resist. So if one offhand comment can get the ball rolling, imagine all the good YOU do :)

@beetlecommathe Well, I suppose. :)
Thanks!
