  • The line should still be there but may be singled locally due to a metro line on the track bed. Of old it was an important bypass both for freight trains and as a connection loop between North and South Brussels (bay) stations before the tunnels were completed in the 50s.

  • @spoorus I'll remember that ;)

  • @englischlokfuehrer Well, if there is a line, this train GOES that way! Thanks for the information, because I was wondering myself about this. =)

  • @thomy753 In my 'Benelux' stock book produced by an English compant called 'Platform 5' there's a map of all 3 countries and an enlarged map of Brussel and this shows a line going from the big junction between Schaerbeek and BNgoing via Bockstael, Simonis towards Forest. I have seen a spur off this line come back towards BZ., so it may be possible that this train goes that way.

  • @englischlokfuehrer I don't think there's such a line so it does pass Brussel-Noord and Centraal twice, but it only stops once in both.

  • @thomy753 So it would pass Brussel Noord and through the connection via Brussel Centraal twice then. Is there not a freight only avoiding line that goes around Brussel to prevent this ?

  • @englischlokfuehrer It's a long time ago, but I think it started in the Netherlands and in 'Brussel-Zuid' it 'turned around'. So that means a locomotive was attached to the other side of the train.

  • Where has it come from to get to Mechelen and how does then get to Brussel Zuid to face the right way for going towards Germany
