The simple truth is very easy to understand. Our government has no money and is borrowing everything that it is giving to us. The government hopes that stimulus checks will encourage economic growth and thus pay for itself but that is highly unlikely. What they are really doing with this stimulus is placating the publics desire for government handouts. Even the most fiscally conservative citizens are happy to receive a government issued check, even if they are against the plan. Why not take the check if they are handing them out?
I liked that Cathouse add that stated spend your tax rebate check on the Bush we really love. LMAO !!!!!!!

We got a rebate check in 2001, and again in 2008.

I would much rather have a rebate check instead of having less taxes taken out of my paycheck!!! It was so nice to get a 600.00 rebate check in the mail!! It just makes more sense to hand out those rebate checks!! Not everybody has a job right now !

My point is that I heard that just when the proposed stimulus plan was at $800 billion, that would be equivolent to every US taxpayer that paid taxes in 2008 of receiving a check in the amount of $13,800. Now, I don't know about you, but $13.800 would help me a LOT more and get me to spend into the economy more than the banks and automakers & soon to be transportation industries, and others & help propel the economy. People aren't going to buy when they're WAY behind on bills, & they shouldn't!!

That would be nice & will help very little, but what about when fuel costs increase this summer ( which will in turn, increase food prices too ), how is that going to help people stay in their homes, keep the cars they can afford to drive, etc? I don't have a problem with an infrastructure stimulus plan and paying out of taxes for it ( because we need it so bad ), but until the US taxpayers get some sort of a "bailout" that they seem insistent to give to corps, the economy isn't going to improve

The rebate will be dispensed through withholding reduction which has a better chance of succeding- via the principle that people spend from income. In other words, paychecks will be bigger every week.
