Luther Vandross
"Never Too Much" remix
White label
Quite poor quality audio due to the vinyl record condition mostly.
(Sorry, but I hope you get the feeling for the track anyway).
I hope you enjoy...
"Never Too Much" is classic soul music and classic dance music by the late, great American singer. It was the title track of his 1981 album and a successful single. "Never Too Much" was released in 1989 in a remixed version, fitting in well with the dance scene at the time, and other remixes followed. This is one of them. "Never Too Much" was popular in clubs and still lurked in the charts I think I remember in early 1990, a much loved song.
I used to know this remix in years gone past. I can't remember what it's called or who made the remix. I think it was reasonably well known. Will try to find out.
I picked up this white label a couple of years ago, not knowing it was going to be this remix, but was very pleased to come by it.
The record quality is pretty fuzzy. The bass is in really good quality I.M.H.O., I'm very pleased, and the percussion is good, while the treble quality often leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe that's what happens at times in old vinyl - some frequency regions disintegrate quite badly while some stay optimum.
Addition: 2 May 2009. A lesson of discovery. I started up my old half gigabyte laptop today, to look at some web pages stored in the favourites, and happened to put on this YouTube shared old vinyl piece. What a difference. I can't even hear the bassline at all from this old computer, whilst the treble parts are in better quality than with my newer laptop computer. That is a 4 GB R.A.M. machine which has the bass reproduction from the digitally converted record booming out in really good quality. There is no bass tonight though on my old machine. A lesson in the vast diffference the equipment makes. I haven't written any video D.V.D.s yet, but I'd been wondering about how much difference to the quality the D.V.D. player at the time makes (even choosing the same T.V.), and if it's worth much time formulating opinions about video capture quality if that is going to change considerably in different equipment.
The difference in sound production for this track in the two computers is so big I'd never have expected it.
This is a straight up, lie!!!! Has nothing to do with Mr Luther Vandross! And the mixing is sloppy and not even put together well!!!

That's right. It has nothing to do with Luther (RiP). How do we tell you? It's a remix, a dj's reworking of a song, an LV release. That's what remixes usually are. Anyone can remix someone else's song. It's fully legal if the right steps are taken, but never claims to be the original work. It's a new, unofficial version - the remixer's version only + never claims it's a release or work of the original artist - only that it uses parts of the artist's release.
Remixes are v popular.
