@xxxBakeneckoxxx wrong. it's very hard to overwork a horse and that little carriage is not going to ever overwork a horse. do you even know what a horsepower is derived from? a horse actually has about 12 horsepower(horsepower is actually a pony's force). hp = raising 500 lbs one foot in one second. the carriage only weights a few hundred lbs which is not enough to even bother the horse because he only pulls about 90 lbs of actual force. read learn before making ignorant comments.

There is a thing called ground tying, im sure alot of theses horses are trained to do so. This horse looked very calm, I could see your point if the horse was crazy but this horse almost looks like he is napping... lol.

Wow, don't resident's of NYC have anything better to do? It's crazy what I have seen on youtube with the so called cruelty to carriage horses etc... You people wouldn't last a day in the country where horses run free, are ridden, pull carts. I've said it before and I'll say it again. City folk need to stick to their fluffy kittens and little lap dogs.

Carriage ridding is an extremely cruel practice. The horses are overworked and when they're not working they're left in cramped little, multi-level sheds with little insulation from the cold in the winter or ventilation from the heat in the summer. I don't live in NYC, but we have them in Portland, OR and last summer a horse collapsed and DIED from being overworked. Please people, understand that this practice is not good for the animals.

Yeah like a driver never needs to go to the toillet or something. I'm sure someone was looking after this horse even if it doesn't appear in your 28 sec vidéo. Your sutch a dummy.

@GCC14173 people like the person who shot this video are alarmist who use the least little thing to attack honest working people. horses in the country have it way worse and sleep outdoors like horses have for hundreds of thousands of years.

LOL!
Relax, NYC Avenger. The horses are super calm and follow the carriage in front of them. They walk the same route every single day. Guarantee the driver is talking to another driver a few carriages up. You're shocked easily by things in NYC. Where are you from....originally?
