The Peak District National Park is located between Sheffield to the east and Manchester to the west.
Despite its proximity to these heavily industrialised regions, it has preserved its wild beauty and hill farming traditions.
We stayed 2km from Bakewell which is known for its tart. Photographs also from Buxton (noted since Roman days for its water) and Tideswell.
We stayed in an apartment on a farm, the weekend (three nights) cost GBP100.
The accommodation was very high standard on a trust basis - and in eight years in business they told me that not once had anyone left without paying which is very nice to know.

At Buxton I went into a market where I bought two CDs from Frankie goes to Hollywood. Here we have a track from one of them - Warriors of the Wasteland. I am not saying that the Peak District is a wasteland, only that the music reminds me of this wonderful weekend in January 2006.

I have a wide range of interests and I think that this is reflected in the films which can be seen here.

I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- http://www.ceepackaging.com - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers.

In 1997 I founded Polish Business News http://www.pbn.com.pl .

My blog can be found via http://www.ceepackaging.com and http://www.pbn.com.pl and contains background information and more details of many of my films.

  • The best national park in the UK.

  • I do not think I would go that far - but it is convenient for many large population centres!

  • Its better than the ever popular lake district.

  • Don't think I can agree with you on that one - although the Lake District used to be really packed every time I went!
