Here's a quick, poor quality video of my 1970 Wheel Horse snow thrower doing it's thing. Since I got this snow thrower from my neighbor in December, 2007 (I have a video of that), I have only had enough snow to be able to use it twice. Both times in 2009. Last night we got 8 inches of snow, and this thing did an AMAZING job removing it! It cut through the snow like a hot knife through butter. It's got a locking differential and chains on the tires, so it gets great traction. Oh, and you can see at :06 seconds in I hit a loose brick!

  • Did it chop up the brick? :)

  • No, the bottom of the housing grabbed it and pulled it out of the ground.

  • I have one of these too, just got it 2 seasons ago. Runs like a champ. Mine throws snow like this one, but I can careless how far it throws the snow as long as it gets it out of the way. Im looking for new runners for it. Cant find any though. i repaced the springs at lowes, changed the oil and plug. Mine has electric start. Im reaaly happy with it.

  • Ok, cool. My gearbox appears to be sealed...

  • Gear box in the auger. Ill get a shot of it and show you what I mean once I get my new camrea.

  • Hmmmmm. I've had this one apart, it appears to just be a straight gear mechanism driven by a belt with no adjustments. What did you adjust on your Ariens to make it spin faster?

  • Oh on my ariens there is and before it was only blowing 5 Ft and now it blows 20+ feet.

  • Oh, there's no way to make it spin faster than that. The only control over the auger is the motor's speed, which can't really go much faster.

  • No I mean the auger adjustment to make it throw the snow farther (Spins faster=Snow thrown farther)

  • Wheel Horse(older models)puts out quality machines!
