  • @WideWorldOfWisdom Why is he even comparing France to the US? France is a country of 65 million people....the US is a country of 306 million people...Obviously are overall GDP will be much higher just on the count of our much larger overall population..305 vs 65

Other than that...it was an interesting discussion

  • @yobro250

Calcanis said the U.S. owns a disproportionate amount of the global GDP. This is true. The US makes up roughly 5% of world population...yet accounts for more than 20% of world GDP.

  • Adam is 100% correct. Communism/Socialism NEVER works. NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. Capitalism as with any human endeavor is of course imperfect, and yet it implementation in the U.S. along with liberty and freedom resulted in the greatest accumulation of wealth in human history pulling exponentially more people out of poverty than any system ever devised. PLEASE just watch youtube video: "Milton Friedman-Greed". It's 2:24 of pure wisdom. Watch it.

  • Is it oppresive for some people to get rich while others remain poor? Would it be less oppresive if everyone remained poor? And can anyone name a situation where a large group of people all became wealthy at the same rate?

  • @13stevejohnson Have you made it oast 3rd grade?

  • "Communism doesn't work because people like to own stuff."

    - Frank Zappa

  • @stebecool you are an idiot... austrian economics has never worked without the state saving it and creating more oppression...

  • @3434arc1 lots of this depends on your view of human nature...

  • @3434arc1 depends on what u mean by freedom...

  • @3434arc1 "thus not having to devote nearly the resources for national defense that otherwise would have been required for their security. "

No....it would not be required because they don't practice the same absurd arrogant enemy creating foreign policy that the US does..so their is barely any need for "security spending" because no one wants to attack Finland or Canada....The countries in close proximity to us rely on us for National security but its not like Canada really needs it.

  • @3434arc1 As for the protective umbrella of the US..Well that is true for some of the countries I listed and not true at all for others...the countries that I listed largely don't go around trying to "spread freedom" and all the other neocon garbage that we do..so they tend to have less enemies and less people trying to kill them..Hence the low amount of military spending..Norway doesn't spend much on the military because they don't involve themselves in other countries business etc.

  • @3434arc1 "cut taxes-cut spending-cut redundant regulation..and it will soar."

Agreed...and we also have to factor in that countries like Norway, Sweden etc have small populations of largely homogeneous people...Obviously you can't compare it to a country like the US with a large population consisting of heterogeneous peoples

But it's also wrong to say that left wing social democracies don't work...They clearly do work well in some countries under the right circumstances..

  • @traveler10001000 Did you notice something that virtually all of the countries that you listed have in common? Most have heavily relied on the military might (as a result of massive military expenditures) & protective umbrella of the U.S., thus not having to devote nearly the resources for national defense that otherwise would have been required for their security. The U.S.economy still has enormous potential..cut taxes-cut spending-cut redundant regulation..and it will soar.

  • @3434arc1 Socialism never works? Yeah thats spot on for PURE socialism...But social democracies left wing type of governments sure do work for some countries...Western Europe, Scanavavia, New Zealand, Canada and to an extent Australia follow these social democracy type of governments and many of them have stronger economies than the US....not to mention much lower unemployment rates.

  • @3434arc1 Good post. Once you watch one video by Milton Friedman, you won't be able to stop. It's absolutely brilliant. He transformed the way that I look at life and politics.

  • @3434arc1 You think what we have in the US is capitalism? It's more like a mix of capitalism for the middle class, socialism for the rich and the poor. The rich have been ripping off the US treasury for a long time in many different ways. I used to hate the lazy idiots that get food stamps and quit trying. But as I've worked tirelessly to better myself I've realized how the system uses motivated people like mules hooked to the plow. The harder you try the more they pile on your back.

  • zzzzzz....boring.. and not bc i disagree with the premise totally. but bc it was boring and un funny. Not AC's best work. and the dude rambling on with him sounded like joe pesci from Lethal Weapon...even adam was bored with him.

  • @mikerotcherson Stop trying to cause a pointless argument over something that I clearly comprehended..We have the highest gdp relative to population. That is obvious.Still it's pointless to compare it to a small country with 65 million people

It really isn't that impressive anyway..We are the current superpower..Superpowers tend to dominate economically..Not any different from any other super power in history..And we're losing our lead anyway..China will be on top someday

  • @mikerotcherson I know exactly what he said dumbass....You're the one who has trouble keeping up and comprehending ...Where did I say anything about the Us clearly not having the highest gdp per population? It is obvious that we do..I just pointed out that it is stupid to compare France a country of 65 million with a country of 305million

Yes we have the highest gdp per population...That is obvious..Would france have a lower Gdp than us if they had the same number of people? Yes

  • @yobro250

Can you not read? He just said 20% of the GDP with 5% of the POPULATION. What part of that do u not understand? The pop IS taken into account. That's what makes it so impressive in the first place. Your whole complaint is that France has less people. The whole point is the US has less people than the rest of the world (a shitload less actually), & makes up a global share of GDP that is 4 TIMES its size in terms of relative POPULATION.

Are you just slow or something?

  • @WideWorldOfWisdom Very true...Just saying that you have to take population into consideration..France has a fairly strong economy...not as strong as Germany but strong like the Scandinavian region...They do have a higher unemployment rate through ( I believe its like 9.8 percent) where as Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, The Netherlands, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc have low unemployment rates.

  • We arnt for democracy though. We are for Free Market, Individuality and Liberty. Our founders were just as skeptical about democracy as they were about strong Central governments. We have more power with companies because we are the consumers that can sway CEO's and corporations. But a government big enough to give you anything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.
