@jenniijennjenn I completly agree. This one is so loving, and the phantom is sweet and unloed. but the 2004 version is just beast with the actors/actresses, the make up, the plot, and the speciale effects!!

i loved the love story of this one, but i loved how the 2004 version did their movie.. i loved the effects, and it was more on singing...

@4alexza I disagree. The phantom in the book is a total psychopath. He puts Raoul and his old friend(ish) from Persia in a legit torture chamber and threatens to blow up the whole opera house. Of course, we are supposed to feel sympathy for him too, but we're also supposed to be horrified.

This and the 2004 version are my favourites.
The Phantom in this one was so mellow and human; I could really connect with him. Gerard Butler was the more kickass hero of my dreams though but less likely to really exist.
