Two guys get bored on a Friday afternoon at a tech recycling warehouse.

Destroyed items: 2 CRT Monitors, LCD Panel, Keyboard, Sun Ultra Sparc 10, Inkjet Printer (which faces death by chainsaw).

All of the equipment destroyed was dead, and on the way to a shredder regardless of what we did here. I'm amused by people who suggest we should have tried to sell the equipment or donate it. The only value in the equipment was in the metal salvage - the warehouse this video was shot in was the last stop before the shredder.

  • Do you even tested them before wrecking?

Old pre-x86 Sun workstations are rare and expensive...

  • @ZXRulezzz:

At the time the video was made, there was almost no market for the systems. We had stockpiled a few dozen at one point and cast around for a buyer, but the economics at the time meant they were worth more than twice as much as scrap than they were as working systems.

  • i hope somebody breaks into your houses and destroys all your shit. Experience what it's like to have to pay for something expensive. Oh wait, you're too fucking rich to give a shit. Lucky you. I hate how people take money for granted when its so hard to come by. I bust my ass every day for minimum wage and you get to have fun...to make way more than minimum wage. Don't understand how some people get that lucky when i've tried so hard and failed so many times.

  • Hey Nobody:

Those were all decommissioned, dead pieces of equipment. Get a grip buddy.

    Want to succeed in life?

    1. Quit drinking (yah, I took the time to bother watching some of your videos).

    2. Wish ill on no one.

    3. Work hard.

    4. Be pleasant with those around you. Even if they're jerks.

That's about all it takes really. It doesn't take an education or being a part of "the old boys club."

  • How could you guys do that to a Sun Ultra 10? Thats a good workstation. Damn.

  • A 9 year old workstation clocking at 300Mhz?

Any used system clocking under 1.7Ghz is worth:

    $350/Ton for the circuit boards.

$200/Ton for the hard drives (after degaussing)

    $1 per Optical drive

    $82.50/Ton for all other parts.

  • @psqtau, I agree with you. Even things like the "Ultra 10" badge have value. All of the supposed "green" and so forth measures, nobody really cares. Things still get smashed to bits...

By the way, I have a Sun Ultra 10 if you're interested; 333 MHz processor, 384 MB RAM, good condition case, on-board framebuffer/video card and more (contact me for information). It used to have a Creator 3D, but I sold that separately. I'm situated in Europe, shipping shouldn't be *so* terrible.

  • @psqtau

    Санобляди закукарекали!

"you may donate it to somebody."

Почему быдло постоянно уверенно что кто-то должен кому-то жертвовать?

Можно пожертвовать и ничего не изменится, а если разбить и выложить видео то у кого-то будет бугорт!

  • Please don't do this with Sun Microsystems products, because for example, Sun Ultra 10 very difficult to buy over ebay (sellers request high price [150$] for that legacy workstation + 90-120$ for shipping from USA to Baltic country (Latvia or Lithuania). I think that many students and some geeks require in Sun Microsystems products. So, better sold that products on ebay for symbolic price: 40 or 60$ + shipping. If you don't need this money - you may donate it to somebody.
