Legend of the Crystal Skulls Revealed - National Geographic Channel

The historical documentary series continues with this fascinating investigation into the origins of the world-famous crystal skulls. Since the 19th century, a number of lifelike quartz skulls have been discovered and displayed in museums. These relics, allegedly dating from Aztec and Mayan civilisations, are believed to have psychic powers. Now, for the first time ever, scientists are given access to the most famous skull of all, the so-called Skull of Doom.

All Fakes? Recent electron microscope analyses of skulls by the British Museum and the Smithsonian Institution revealed markings that could only have been made with modern carving implements. Both museums estimate that their skulls date to sometime in the mid- to late 1800s, a time when public interest in ancient cultures was high and museums were eager for pieces to display.

  • @Ariza23 Perhaps they are, however in making a categoric statement that NG are disinformers you fall into the same sort of trap that they did: making unsubstantiated assumptions. Their assumption was that because the modern world hadn't long known how to use such tools as grinding stones, no other civilaization or indeed group of people from Earth ever had either. That isn't scientific. Scientists are people and are also subject to poor thinking habits.

  • @MrFeatheredSerpent Quetzalcoaltl: cool name, sir. Jane Walsh's biggest error is the assumption that our modern techno-civilization is the only one ever to have graced the surface of planet Earth. Now that is an enormous assumption. Furthermore, we're not even talking about ancient flight, but, rather about a simple grinding wheel. Are we so extraordinarily arrogant that our fat heads have closed up our eyes? Evidently so!

  • discrediting and disinforming the masses, not cool nat geo!!
