@ritchloui This is mostly out of curiosity, so you don't have to answer, but what country are you from? I ask because having met people from various countries, their experiences with Islam seem to have influenced their view of it. Islam has been made into an abomination of a religion by many people, but Islam is not the only religion for which heinous crimes have been committed. You also have to remember that there are Muslims who practice their religion very peacefully.

@soccermanunknown The point to remember is that Islam is nothing less than a slaver ideology. The Arab slave trade is of enormous magnitude in human history. Islam is truely a despicable 'religion' enforced by a barbarity even the Spanish Inquisition could barely emulate. Beheadings, maimings, mutilation, stoning, ear clipping nose clipping, flogging etc.Even FGM has followed Islam out of Africa. Only one type of civilisation in history actually sought to abolish slavery. Remember that.

@ritchloui I think I was in a bad mood when I posted that first comment anyway. Sorry, don't normally let that get to me. Anyway, what do you mean by "blundering idealisations and demonisations?" I personally love Gothic and Baroque architecture, and having been to the Vatican and many famous cathedrals, think they are absolutely beautiful. Never personally seen any famous Islamic architecture, but would love to as it seems fascinating as well. Every society has had slavery at some point :/ Sad.

@soccermanunknown Don't worry, I'm pulling your leg a bit. Nevertheless I don't like the iconography. The RCC is really into heavy, blundering idealisations and demonisations. It can become very ugly and creepy. I'm sure there are better ways of creating inspiring spaces. As I said, I really love the 'Islamic' architecture and aesthetic. However, I must point out that Islam itself is the Arab slaving ideology and the Quran is a slavers' handbook. Arabian Arabs, 2,500 years unremitting slavers.

@ritchloui I know because I am Catholic, and I'd never considered looking at the crucifix in such a manner until you mentioned it. Second, because I've talked to other Catholics and I've never heard a single thing linking the cross to sexuality. I'm not going to try to defend the Church's history. It's an institution run by men, and like any other such institution has made mistakes in its past. That's a very valid criticism. The crucifix, however, can only be viewed that way out of context.

@mayoju Rubbish and mumbo jumbo. Anyone who is greedy for an afterlife is already in the hands of a death cult. This life is all there is. Get used to it and stop deluding yourself and swallowing all the garbage that goes with it. There is no evidence for a God so basically God is whatever you want Him to be and no-one knows any more than anyone else. That's why the whole thing is a scam; people claim expertise they do not have, they are experts about 'nothing' let's face it.

@soccermanunknown How do you know how endless depictions of a semi-naked man nailed hand and foot is interpreted? Personally, I think the images are in very poor taste. The Roman Catholic Church has a strong history of gratuitous torture and sexual cruelty, so I’m pointing this out in their iconography. Mind you, Islam is still slaughtering people and yet to have its fangs pulled. I think Iran is the crucible for that particular show down.
