I used to look at this when I was ten. The show was one of the very few that included any other types besides blacks and whites. in the late nineteen sixties, many efforts were made to infuse blacks into the previously all-white shows of the era. Now there is a closing off of other non-black minorities as central characters as new laws such as the adaa are being ratified. I feel sorry for children today because they will be the hardest hit by the new martial law police state that is emerging.

These cartoons were based on Morrie Turner's pioneering comic strip, "Wee Pals". The strip started in 1965 and is still running strong in over 100 newspapers nationwide. This Rankin-Bass series was around from 1972 to 1974.

Here's a show from the Rankin/Bass stable that should be out on DVD. For some reason Classic Media through it's deal with Vivendi Entertainment has been reluctant to put this out as with The Reluctant Dragon And Mr. Toad, The Smokey The Bear Show and The Tomfoolery Show.

They need to revive this in DVDs. Seriously they do.

@ciccocenta The "MORAL MAJORITY". It all started with California Propisition 13, which led to the Reagan Revolution, which led to "No New Taxes", which led to the Neo - Cons (George W. Bush Jr.'s Neo Conservatives), which led to the Tea Party, Which led to the Debt Ceiling Stalemate, which will lead to the Mad Max nightmare on August 3, 2011. The world is going to go to hell without firing a single ICBM!

I had a halloween costume of that leader kid, complete with cheap plastic apron with the logo and the front-only plastic mask and the rubber band that only a little less painful than a cigarette burn and you worried all night trick or treating that the staple holding it together would fail.
This was a great cartoon, but what do they sing after "...It's up to Kid Power (Kid Power) All the colors of ??"
