NAACP and City of Orlando and Orlando Magic

The City of Orlando and the Orlando Magic have not honored the BLUEPRINT
agreement as it relates to contracts awarded to African American contractors or the hiring
of African American workers.
As of January 31, 2009, there were 32 African American firms awarded contracts for a
total of $16,325,000 of the $226,000,000 in contracts awarded. Specifically, this means 7.2%
of the dollars went to African American subcontractors, while at the same time, the
percentage dollar amount for Hispanics was 18% or more than 40 million dollars!
Unfortunately, this means that with nearly 50% of the 480 million dollars allowed for this
project is already under contract, African Americans and the Parramore community have
been deceived again and the intent of the BLUEPRINT authors has been subverted.
This demonstration is intended to publicize and bring deserved attention to this apparent
miscarriage of public trust.
