Because people shared computers back in the late 1980's/early 1990's when both this commercial and the vertical-display Mac were made. Individual computers per employee were luxuries only the richest companies could afford.

I love the way he says mips. And that last line, and the slow turn--so cheesy, but so perfectly the effect they were going for. :-)

i don't get what's going on in this ad. why are the people at this office constantly switching computers? are they playing a game like musical chairs?
