  • @kriteon: I am a piano dealer and have lots of experience with pianos of all kinds. You won't find any disagreement from me on Yamaha, as they are perhaps the worst pianos out there in terms of performance, unless you want to spend a lot more money than a Japanese instrument is worth. I'm quite surprised that you'd place an Essex ahead of a Kawai. Check out Hailun and the new Ritmuller's by Lothar Thomma. They will trounce an Essex any day and often come in at a lower price to boot.

  • @ddpsp that's not true at all...I actually own one of these pianos and chose it immediately over a Kawai and a Yamaha which had a much worse tone and klunky action. Essex pianos are the best pianos out there in that price range. Where are you getting your info from? Do you own one?

  • funny how it sounds just like a Ritmuller even if Steinway does manage all the materials used and owns the design.. it's also funny how it sounds just like a chinese piano.. don't get me wrong- those pianos work if that's all the money you have- but i don't think the chinese can really build a true musical instrument- they just don't get it.. and the japanese can BARELY build a true musical instrument.. or maybe we just don't have asian ears..
  • Steinway's design makes a difference in tone and feel, but Pearl River's quality control issues show through in the Essex as severely as they show through in the company's named product. That being said, lets not forget that the Yamahas built there are equally susceptible.

Lothar Thomma's new Ritmullers, also built by Pearl River, rival just about every piano that has ever come out of that facility. Quality remains inconsistent, but the good Ritmullers are VERY good at a very good price.

  • how much?

  • i have an essex grand and it's fine

  • it's Schumann. From the Kinderscenze song cycle. The name of the song is "Strange far away lands" or "Strange lands and people" something like that. If you like that song cycle try his Waldszenen song cycle too.

  • I do believe its a work of Schumann.

  • whats the name of that songgg!!? i love it

  • It sounds better than the pianos made by the same chinese company. . . steinways designing role must be more than advertising.
