In this art lesson about creating doodling and comics (or "comix" as I prefer), I explore a mashup between sequetial art and doodling. Two exciting art forms are doodling (that is, "automatic drawing"), and comic book storytelling, that is, "sequential art". Each is unique and exciting: doodles are carefree and spontaneous, whereas comic book story telling is much more structures (with the narrative line forced into a series of boxes or panels. Thus, both artforms complement each other: doodles can add creativity and visual interest to the structured composition of the comic book layout. And by the same token, the boxy comic book layout can add structure to the free-associative quality of doodles. http://doodlecomix.com
