Seeing as I'm so poorly endowed with subscribers myself, this seems a little high minded, but do please subscribe to this fine gentleman.

My thoughts on culture and counterculture, how they
play out on youtube, and what the effects of a more liberal enlightened culture will be.

  • Why is being conservative considered whacko? What is irrational about it? I'm an anarchist but I'm also an atheist. As an atheist, people look at me like I'm crazy when I say I believe Yahweh is a superstitious myth. So I know what it's like to be seen as an eccentric. As such, I try to give all ideas their due consideration. Anarchy is a very rational political philosophy, but everyone sees it as whacko. It's simply unfair.

  • I wouldn't say it was at all, nevertheless, it is a radical position to hold.

  • I always like your videos John but i think this one has to be one of my favorites. Sub-cultures and counter-cultures fascinate me.

I do believe YouTube will become a complimentary Sub-culture. Though i foresee more wackos coming out of the wood works to learn to use computers, I don't think they could possibly take over youtube. I'm predicting the people like LaciGreen and ZOMGitsCriss, attractive female atheists, will grow in popularity and phase out their crazy conservative efforts.

  • Well, when and If my colleague and I get round to writing our tract on the math and ontology of memetics, I'll let you know and you can be bored out of your skull by it!

  • YouTube is going to go where the money is.

  • And the money is wherever we decide to watch videos.

  • Your overview is insightful and lucid. If indeed the Obama presidency and the banking sectors' near collapse are to usher in a new and refined epoch, let us bask in being a complimentary culture while the cycle favours us. It would nice to be swept up by the cultural zeitgeist as opposed to pushing against it....cause I'm knackered!

This cheered me up no end.

  • Hmmm, a very interesting thought.

  • I suppose YouTube might be turning into something like a very big parliament with proportional representation -- with extreme and mainstream groups all present, sometimes addressing each other, sometimes not, sometimes listening to each other, and sometimes not, and always tending towards stridency.

  • Considering YouTube's exasperating behavior of late I fear sometimes that the selection for us will get smaller and smaller. I have nothing but contempt for these freaks, who attempt to block the free flow exchange, and YouTube, who enables them.

However, as our community grows stronger and more vocal perhaps they will have a change of heart. Hence the money reference.
