Another of the "Hot Style" jazz labels from Jelly Roll Morton recorded for Victor Talking Machine Company in the old Trinity Baptist Church in Camden, New Jersey. Special thanks to Russell Crump for his amazing archive of photos of Houston, Belton, and Temple, Texas in the early 1920s.

Tank Town was always the poor side of town-the wrong side of the tracks- during the roaring 20s. During the 1920s most of the United States, especially rural areas and the south, remained mired in grinding poverty. Tank Town was more representative of life in the 20s for a majority of Americans as opposed to life portrayed in the optimistic films of the days in their opulent settings.
