Here is the first video batch of my loco purchased a few months ago
It was then number 37412 Loch Lomond but with the model having split head codes among other details it was not correct for that loco
I therefore decided to strip it and repaint it to match a suitable loco, hence Loch Eil
I added Magpie CD sound and directional lighting, plus numerous details and finally weathered it to make it look as real as possible

  • Hi Mike

Fabulous engine with the sound spot on.

I'd like to ask about the snow ploughs please - have you made them or bought them in, if bought, where from?

Spoke with Derek at Magpie this morning and it doesn't seem likely that the smoke exhaust unit will ever be available again, great pity.

    Cheers, Brian

  • @MrB1Brian Hi and thank you. The ploughs came on her from Dan Jeavons, not sure you can buy them separate but worth asking them i think

I've been chatting to Derek too for a while now and i hope he can work out a way to continue the smoke.... fingers crossed, he's a very nice chap as you;ll have noticed

    Hi Mike

I mean because you have her sooo perfect that you'll be too attached to her to ever sell her on if you were mad enough to ..lol By the way thanks for the info on the gauges, i was in the throws of making my own when i saw yours and thought that there must be some available and would save me some time!! Where on the web did you find the gauge dials mate?

    Many thanks again Mike

  • @mightyhaze1

    Hi Jeff

how do you mean never sell her ?

  • @mightyhaze1 hi again

i made them, turned up on lathe and added gauge bits from pic someone had posted to web, few small bolt heads to finish and voila

  • @MikeL0ck

Hi Mike, can i be cheeky and ask where you got the fuel and sandbox gauges from for your Loch Eil please?

P.S. you do realise you'll never sell her don't you? ;-D

    Many thanks mate

  • @mightyhaze1

thank you again for your kind words, sorry i missed you there

since the video i have added more detail to the brakes and fuel / water gauges and weathered her a bit more, as you may have noticed

all i'm waiting to so now is add the smoke / exhaust

  • Had the privilege of seeing your fine machine on display at Alexander Palace last weekend, she's even better looking in the flesh!!!

    Very nice job Mike!!

    Hi

It's from Magpie computer developments (web),

they make a kit with external amp etc into which they mount a standard ESU locksound chip with sound files from south western digital

The guys name is Derek, very helpful chap indeed

i am a member of harrow club but live in essex (long story) so i run her wherever i can, this summer i'll probably try canvey, chelmsford or colchester i think
