The sky lanterns or wish lanterns are very popular among the Asian Cultures. They are used as wish lanterns to bring in good spirits, luck, and fortune for the years to come for those who light them. "In Chinese astrology fire denotes strength, dynamism, persistence, restlessness, and excitement. Fire is also believe to govern the heart. Fire ignites inspiration, imagination, and the practical application of this: human creativity." (From the book "China: The Spirit of People, Culture, and History")
The Unitus Sky Lantern Ceremony will be a purging of negative energy and a welcoming of new patterns and growth. Everyone will focus and channel all of the greed, grief, stress, fear, doubt, hate and anything negative that brings us down and stops us from being who we are truly, into these sky lanterns to be released back into the Universe. From this point on, we can carry on with a clean slate and restore equality. We hope for everyone to come out to dispose of the negative energy in your hearts to live a more conscious and compassionate life. It is highly recommended that you focus and dedicate all of your energy into the sky lantern because this ceremony is held only once a year.

I was there for this. A first year festival where we refused to let the weather spoil anything. This night was magical, after two days of rain, the sun cleared up and we were all able to light off our sky lanterns. This is the first recording where the audio is solid. Had a great weekend and met some amazing friends at Unitus.
