The first time India had 1bn population was 1999. Independence was 1947.

It is true that India was conquered by the Arab Muslims and the British and many atrocities were committed.

Today it is a super-power with its own Formula one team and many hi-tech achievements.

I swear by Allah swt that those same people who are opposing all this "culture" are really working for the system of shaytan. The same system the free masons are behind the same in every single country in the world. In the arabic countries, the asian, the african, EVERYWHERE. They want us to be distracted from the akhira.

Aleem - The effects of entertainment and advertising on American youth is damaging as well, but I am interested in your perspective as a young Indian. In America, American youth cultures are marketed by big business to American youth themselves. A great deal of skepticism about advertising already exists among youth here, although obviously advertising is smart enough to know how to market to skeptic consumers.

Isn't it possible to like both iddlies and hamburgers? I understand your point about commercial imperialism and its effects. This type of imperialism threatens to impose a homogenous world culture on peoples. That's a serious problem. However, in this segment you never mention the reverse problem of clinging to a "native" culture that is based on a mythological national identity. What is "Indian" (or "American", for that matter)?
