What should be done about the economy? Should we do what Obama says we need to do? He says we need more money to spend our way out of the recession. Is he right? This video looks at what a recession is, what needs to be done to recover, and how the US government is doing all the wrong things.

Here's a good article on Business Cycle Theory: http://mises.org/story/672

  • The only way we'll get any of this to happen is by electing Ron Paul. Right now the lunatics are running the asylum.

  • @shanedk Thank you very much Shanedk :)

  • @ForeverComplaining @ForeverComplaining There is one man--Lee Wrights--who's making a go of it, and he needs all the support he can get to gain the Libertarian nomination and make a big splash in the election.

  • @shanedk Keep up the good work your arguments are excellent, If only people like would bloody get up and run for president (which isn't as easy as it seems as it costs a fortune). You truely would made America a world power and land of the free.

  • @shanedk

The target was calculated by the fed using Friedman's formulas among other things (taylor rule etc.)

The Fed doesn't just go out and announce the target rate nor does it publish it in a journal, it's more of word of mouth thing which is mentioned by things like Brookings.

So why wasn't unemployment below 4% prior to the crisis?

  • @AndroidPolitician Shifting the goalposts AGAIN!!! You have NO HONESTY in you whatsoever. I'm talking about your bogus 4% claim!

  • @shanedk

Are you intentionally being stupid? The natural rate was literally invented by Friedman. If you want the first paper it's

"The Role of Monetary Policy". American Economic Review (American Economic Association) 58: 1–17.

So why wasn't unemployment below 4% prior to the crisis?

  • @AndroidPolitician Yeah, because "the work of Milton Friedman" is NOT a citation, and I've READ the work of Milton Friedman and HE NEVER SAID THAT.

Whereas I gave you TWO citations. And the only thing you could come back with is argumentum ad populum.
