Even as he told reporters on his flight to America that he was "deeply ashamed" over the church sex abuse scandal, Pope Benedict was accused by victims of protecting some 19 bishops accused of sexually abusing children.

"As a Catholic, I have to sadly conclude that he is not serious about ridding the church of corrupt bishops," said Anne Doyle, co-director of BishopAccountability.org, a group tracking public records involving the bishops.

According to the group, of the 19 bishops "credibly accused of abusing children," none has lost his title, been publicly censured by the Vatican or referred for criminal prosecutions.

"The sexual corruption in the Catholic church starts at the very top," said Doyle.

Pope Benedict told reporters on his flight this morning from Rome to Washington, D.C., he would do everything possible to avoid a repeat of the scandal. "We will absolutely exclude pedophiles from the sacred ministry," he said, according to Reuters.

Ratzinger is personally accountable; he's the one who wrote the document entitled "instruction on the proceeding in cases of solicitation" back when he was a cardinal, a document that told it's readers that anyone cooperating with local law enforcement regarding these cases would be excommunicated.

@ZZzzzzzWhat well fundamentals of a religion that doesnt follow the bible of course is going to be a problem because they arent adhering to the principles and commandments of the bible is my point and no i dont have a specific religion because all denominations are corrupt if i attend any church its a non denominational one

I'm sure you know that the Bible has more then 10 commandments. But what i was trying to say is that the problem is not on the people o miss represent religion, it is on the religious fundaments which are harmful and divisive.

Either way i'm still curious. Do you have a specific religion?

@JL0183 "let there be no divisions amongst you any 'denomination' is non christian". Nevertheless there are divisions and they all belong to the Christian doctrine. So if are not a catholic nor a protestant what are you, an orthodox? which is the one who follows the bible correctly? The one who truly belongs to the St. Peters' church(Matthew 16:18)?
