In pilot-speak this is a non-coupled (hand-flown, no autopilot) precision approach (ILS providing localiser and glideslope guidance) to Runway 16 Melbourne International Airport, Australia (my hood).

The paint for the PMDG 744 is VH-OEB 'Philip Island' new Qantas livery by Jathedar Singh available for download from avsim.net. An addon I used that I forgot to mention in the video was Real Environment Xtreme.

I decided to make an FSX video, but to do something a bit different to all the other FS videos you can find on YouTube, so had the idea of making a video wall. It was a pain in the ass to make, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Some flight sim videos have only sound effects, others only music, I felt that both are necessary - SFX for ambience and "authenticity", and music so the viewer doesn't get too bored watching what is, to most people I'm sure, a pretty boring video. The music tracks are from a couple of classic PC games, Need for Speed: High Stakes and Command and Conquer: Red Alert.

For those interested, the PC the recordings were made on had the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3 GHz
4GB DDR2 800 RAM
ATi 4850 512MB
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

  • Dude this was an ILS landing... The autopilot was disconnected when the aircraft touched down... You can see it at 8:04. But the scenery and the views were great. Greetings.

  • @Karxilas The autopilot was disconnected at 2:17 - the AP disconnect warning sounds, the Master Alarm triggers and you can just make out the red AUTOPILOT DISC on the EICAS display. The autothrottles are then disconnected at 3:14.

  • @mrmaestrom Yeah, you are right. I'm sorry mate. Great landing and scenery. Greetings!

  • @Karxilas Cheers, thanks for watching.

  • @MAF152SEB Altitude readouts will occur no matter if the AP is engaged nor disengaged. It's coupled with the GPWS system, which detects the height above ground level... it doesn't have anything to do with the altimeter, and NOTHING to do with the ILS localiser or any precision approach system. It's simply a device which was developed for the GPWS system to eliminate the impracticality of constantly looking at the displays during the round-out/flare.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • What's PMDG??

  • @Rafal102able thats because the autopilot landed it

  • why do you have the read outs because that only happens on ILS landings

  • how did u do this split screen into 4 thing???

  • how do you get the thing were it goes 100 50 40 30 20 10 beep beep beep beep pm me thanks love the video
