Iran Claims to Have Shot Down US Drone 'Spy Plane'

Iran's military has said it shot down a US surveillance drone that strayed over the Afghan border, underscoring the tensions gripping the region as western allies assembled in Germany for a major conference on Afghanistan's future.
Iranian state media quoted a military source as saying that Tehran planned to retaliate after its forces downed the unarmed RQ-170 pilotless drone on Sunday.
"The Iranian military's response to the American spy drone's violation of our airspace will not be limited to Iran's borders," the source was quoted as saying.
Isaf, the Nato-led force in Afghanistan, admitted in response to the Iranian claim that it had lost track of a drone -- which the military refer to as unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs -- over western Afghanistan last week.
