Lovely atmospheric film, set in Mauritania, a country where the Sahara meets the Atlantic, with Black African Senegal to the south, and Magreb Western Sahara and Morocco to the North.

We are all Africa. Black or Arab we are all Africa. Mr. Abderrahmane Sissako is born to a Malian father and Mauritanian mother. He spent most of his life in Mali. It is a beautiful film of course. And it is an African film not a Moorish of French film, but an African film. As a filmmaker and having the honour meeting Mr. Sissako. I can say that he does not like people to label his film as a Moorish or French film. It is an African story from an African filmmaker. Period.....
