Moorish-French Movie from 2002. The director and writer: Abderrahmane Sissako.
Abdallah is going to emigrate to Europe but decides to visit his mother in the town of his birth before he goes. He realises how much he has changed; not being able to speak the language and having a more European outlook on life, and begins to think he has made a mistake making the journey. However Abdallah does become involved with a sensual young woman, Nana.
-------------------------------------
Mauretańsko-francuski film z 2002 r. Scenariusz i reżyseria: Abderrahmane Sissako.
Zdobył m.in nagrodę za najlepszy film - MF Filmu Niezależnego Buenos Aires 2003 r.

  • We are all Africa. Black or Arab we are all Africa. Mr. Abderrahmane Sissako is born to a Malian father and Mauritanian mother. He spent most of his life in Mali. It is a beautiful film of course. And it is an African film not a Moorish of French film, but an African film. As a filmmaker and having the honour meeting Mr. Sissako. I can say that he does not like people to label his film as a Moorish or French film. It is an African story from an African filmmaker. Period.....

  • Lovely atmospheric film, set in Mauritania, a country where the Sahara meets the Atlantic, with Black African Senegal to the south, and Magreb Western Sahara and Morocco to the North.
