When Chaps go bad

Chaps came appart. They got sucked into my back tire and locked it up. I made my first payment on my new Victory Hammer S about three days after I got out of the hospital. Plano Texas, President George Bush Tollway just past I75 overpass.

@wylief150 Glad to hear your all good, only just realised you got back to me as I have not checked messages etc in ages. I got knocked off twice in 2009 and still not back on bike yet, took a while to get fixed up but now surgery is over.

We need more people like that dodge driver over here as no-one helped at my first crash except the lady i got crushed against where as the one that hit me and crushed me into her stood giggling at side of road as i was loaded in ambulance >_<

Wow... this brought tears to my eyes, what an incedible driver/person that pickup driver is. He saw you were in trouble and in a split second pull behind you in his truck to protect you and gave some info to the cops and went on his way. I would love to meet this guy/gal, I want to buy him and his family dinner and tell him he made this world a better place.

@wylief150 I just learned a lesson from you. Although HD chaps are expensive, I am going to pay the price and have them fitted at the dealer. I was thinking about going through Leatherup, but your lesson taught me a lesson. Hope you are doing better.

@wylief150 ya maybe something like -------- Dodge pickup saves Motorcyclist -------- in the title thats a good idea go for it. and i hope your doing ok that looked like you went down hard. i still ride myself but i wear padded jacket pants boots gloves.im still wearing a half helmet but im looking into a Modula full face dont know if i can take the heat in the summer. if ya still riding ride safe

@polarbear: ...... tried to hold the skid straight, but my body was getting pulled off the bike by the chaps until the seam tore. The pulling caused my weight to shift and that is why I could not hold a straight line. I have been riding since 87 and have had blow outs and lock ups. I know the drill. This was different. Since 87, that is the first time I put a bike down, and hopefully the last. And yes, I was coming from Wylie.

Yes, the chaps were ill fitting. they were given to me. That was the first time I had gone over 45mph with them. Yes, it was a bad decision to wear chaps that were to big. They were flapping, and I started to feel them open up. I got off the gas to check traffic and pull over, but by then it was too late. I would not say I "let" the rear tire come around. When the chaps started to twist up in the wheel, it was trying to pull me off the bike. I tried to just hold the skid

It has been said but good reaction on the pickup drivers part. Scary makes me rethink everything Im wearing while riding now on.
