Here are two Ed Reavy reels played by fiddle player Erin Loughran from Pearl River, New York. Erin learned her music from Brian Conway and Rose Conway Flanagan. The reels are: "In memory of Coleman" and "The Wild Swans of Coole".

The music was recorded at the North American Comhaltas Convention in Parsippany, New Jersey in April 2004. Info on this year's convention at http://www.cceconvention2008.org

Ugh.. you're just another anal classical snob. "You're doing it wrong!!"... shut the hell up already. This girl is well trained in this style, and clearly her bow hold is deliberate and aids in her overall sound, and I think she sounds great. And really who cares how she holds the bow. You just want to bust balls and throw your classical training in everyone's face. the fiddling tradition has little to do with classical violin, so really, you're the one who looks foolish.

  • @FiddlerAdam Traditional fiddle and classical violin are very different. Since you are clearly not trained in traditional music, you have no idea what you are talking about, and you are the one that looks foolish. She was not playing out of tune and she was holding the bow correctly for the tunes she was playing, as she was playing reels. Don't give examples of classical music, since this is not classical music, it's folk. Once again, they're very different.

  • @jrm33lover shut up because she's my music teacher now soooo!!!!

  • After watched this video, I found that THIS IS AWESOME!! How can someone say that she's playing it false?? That's true, this is a FOLK music I tell ya which somehow different from classical music. Hell with the rule of holding the bow right as long as you can produce the sounds right and beautiful like her did! That is how A MASTER should do! Seeing all the possibilities beyond the common rules :)

  • @fiddleradam, what's with all the nay saying? I don't see any videos of you playing your obviously "better versions" of classical music. Get over yourself...

  • The first 2 comments suck. Get over it you butt-hurt bitches

  • @xojuliax32

    lucky duck.

  • @cactuscrust

    ooo, snap....and SO right.

  • @pimcgreal Ranall has very good intonation ...would think though that his melodic selection in Julia Delaney might be looked at .

Trad and Classical don't get on as a general rule! I think that's a pity. Serious classical playing is such a dedicated road to take ...you have to give all ....

.Would agree that this lady is doing fine . ...maybe a bit of tidying up ...but fair play to her !

  • @pimcgreal Well i don't know where you come from...?but i've been livin with this music all my life!!!and one listen is enough for me to decide if ot's scots or irish ,or out of tune?...Definately Irish, definately Ed Reavy, and played by a dedicated desciple, perfectly in tune!!!!But i can understand how a classical trained musician, like you could be out of the loop??????????

  • @citycowboy619 ..It' s not about being the best??you have to be motivated? an she is..So to hell with BEGRUGERS like you

  • @cactuscrust ..Doesn't matter...You just interpret the Music as you feel,,?..an she did a good job
