Councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21, St. Paul's West) helped kick off the Artscape Wychwood Barns at the official ribbon cutting ceremony on November 20. The Artscape Wychwood Barns is a former Toronto Transit Commission streetcar repair facility that has been transformed into a dynamic arts and environmental complex in Midtown Toronto. The complex features artists' live/work studios, office space for non-profits, a Green Barn with a greenhouse and garden, and a community gallery. The complex is surrounded by a park that includes an off-leash dog area, water play feature, volleyball court and outdoor winter ice rink. The event marked the end of a nearly decade long journey to bring the vision of the Barns to reality, and marked the start of many new possibilities.
