Poor thing.. He's lost.. It's called an ant mill. Ants follow other ants by their smell. If they get lost, they start following eachother untill they die of weakness.. :(

It is a "Death Mill" (or Circular Mill), sometimes it happens to ants. If other ants meet this one - they would follow him. It can take several days untill all of them finally die.
