@vcamnowaa Oh ok. But just for using to do internet stuff and leave the burning to the Toshiba. I'd love to take a look at the board if it's possible. It's true that solder does expand when heated ,but it seems to me that it shouldn't be doing that because they would have figured out a work around by now it seems. But I never put together a computer in the sense I made and soldered the parts so I couldn't be the best one to tell you.
@Unicornguy I've told people this lots of times the acer has a bad mother board so the DVD Drive won't work. and I have taken the toshiba apart lots of times lots of screws to take out! and I asked a teacher who has a more computer experience than me he said after awhile the solder on the mother board expands due to heat and when it expands it touches the solder closest to it then causes a little short which causes the freezing issue right now the laptop is running fine! for now that is....
@vcamnowaa Well, that's understandable. Have you thought about going back to the Acer for a little while until you can find a permanent fix for the Toshiba. I'm still wondering what could be wrong with the Toshiba. Could you take the whole laptop apart and make a video showing off as much as the motherboard as you can? Maybe there's a defect on the board. If you knew how to solder I think you could probably make a work around for it. I'll show you a video of what I'm talking about.
@Unicornguy First of all Dell and Toshiba can suck it! I hate them both And the DVD Drive doesn't fit the Dell 2nd the toshiba's screen is a 17inch screen the /Dell has a 14inch the acer once its dead out come the useful parts and under the ground it goes!
@vcamnowaa LOL. Maybe I'd just go a head and stick with the Dell as a main pc for a while. Maybe you can put the DVD burner in the Dell and replace the LCD in the Dell with the Toshiba's!!! Oh, that sucks that the board is also going bad in the Acer. I'd try looking around and see what possible types of WiFi cards could have been used in your IBM and maybe then it will work. I hope it will atleast! I'd give it a try!
@Unicornguy The Dell is fine for some reason no weird problems its been running fine. Ahh that sucks that the screens won't fit!. the connector is built into the motherboard so there might be an issue with a certain part of the board I know enough about the think pad that if I take the WiFi chip out and put a different one in it will say please turn off the computer and insert the Original WiFi card and that the original WiFi card isn't compatible with my Network and Settings.
@vcamnowaa Oh wow... That's no good. I hope you find a new machine sometime soon! How is the Dell C640 treating you? Is it still messing up and doing weird stuff? Also, I looked at the LCD for the Compaq and it won't fit the GateWay. But isn't there a cable inside the machine that goes from the DVD drive to somewhere on the board? Or does it like fit in like a cartridge? Gee, I wish I knew what else to recommend... Did you try finding more out about the IBM ThinkPad?
@Unicornguy Even when the cardboard is in the machine it still freezes but without the cardboard it will freeze and slapping, tapping, hitting won't fix it but with the cardboard inside the machine it pushes on the mother board to prevent the serious freeze but it does freeze half the time and I just shake it and it works again and I have tried everything with the acer I put the Acer's DVD Drive in the toshiba and it works I put the Toshiba's DVD Drive in the acer no DVD icon shows uo I give up!
@vcamnowaa Ok! Thanks! I can't wait to take a look!
