  • Sorry, but you are sadly deluded.

The US did a comprehensive study, and found that over 300 time the number of sexual abuse cases occured with public school teachers than with priests. I am talking about reality, you are portraying a kind of pulp fiction.

I think we can both agree however, that whatever the frequency, child abuse is a horrible and vile thing.

  • There are actually a great number of priests who are deviants, hence the scandal. And its hardly limited to America. But by your own logic, the fictional Carmelengo is but one priest. One vs. many. I don't think it too much for a work of fiction to say one man strayed from the path

  • That is an idiotic statement. If you had said public school teachers you might have a point. But relatively speaking there are so few priests who are sexual deviants, it is not a justafiable comment.

Your second statement is correct. We all become disillusioned by our experiences in life, many seminarians end up coming back to the faith later on in life, but it is good they were not priests, they were not right for the job.

  • Yeah the only mistakes priests make are molesting young boys. Priests are human too and become prone to temptation and can have their vision clouded. Some men have left the priesthood.

  • I wish I could agree with you. Priest are taught philosophy before they ever are taught theology. For this reasons priests always know how they know, what they know, and why they would not make the mistakes displayed in this film.

Catholic and Ordthodox Priests are well educated and well-formed teachers. Their training is extremely rigorous far more so, I have found that other christian denominations.

I havent seen the film yet. I might get it on cable front-row lol.

  • Thank you Father. I was impressed with the film. For example when Fr. Patrick asks him "Are you a man of faith?" and he says "People have faith..." "No, Mr. Langdon, I asked about you". Also, SPOILER- how they make you think the old cardinal is a bad guy out to become pope, but it turns out to be the other way around and how he says to Langdon "Of course God sent you here". Overall, it seemed a positive message on Catholics, especially by surprising you with who the true villains are
