Kekai tells Ram about those two promises. Ram reacts happily and says he never wanted to be the king, he will be happy if Bharat becomes the king, he will be too happy to go away and learn many things from Rishis during the Vanwaas.
Ram thanks Kekai that she has given him the chance of life time, he is very very happy that he will be fulfilling his fathers promises, he will take permission of Maa Kaushliya and Maa Sumitra and also take leave of Sita and then he come back here to take his fathers blessings. As Ram comes out the bodyguards and the umbrella man follow him, but he stops them saying they are not required now. Slowly everybody comes to know that Ram will not be the king, people are upset. Vashishth comes to Kekais kaksh to check what is happening. Dashrath is speechless.

Okay, this is the final straw. I don't understand why people compare Ram with Maan. Both are totally different characters that it makes absolutely no sense! First off, Ram is a historical/mythological character, one whom everyone prays to and who is close to almost every Hindu's life, while Maan is a completely fictional character who will appear for the duration of Geet and then be done with. Ram will never be "done"...he is eternal. So please stop these stupid comparisons, they are laughable.

You're so right! The entire cast of Ramayan, not just Gurmeet and Debina, did amazing and perfect in these episodes. From the very moment that Kaikeyi changes and Ram leaves for Vanvaas, it's really interesting and realistic! All the songs are so nice and emotional, especially the "Ram, Mat Jaao" one. This part of Ramayan was filmed really well.
