Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - No Hiring Generics No Bazaar No Auctions No Items

As expected, the difficulty decreased for a while after the complicated Flowsand Lord battle. I have the first encounter with Ewen, and the mission where Vaan and Penelo make their entrance recorded, but since these missions end once you kill the main guy, there's little action to show. Luso blows up in each case for some cool damage (but not enough for an OHKO even with Attack Up and from behind).

After those missions, we fly to the other continent and do the Banbanga! mission. This unlocks the Master Monk class and I'm going to tell you why this class is so awesome for a very long time (until endgame when other options become superior).

Master Monk is the upgrade to White Monk, which was the one class in the original FFTA that did a lot of damage unarmed. In FFTA2 every job has its own unarmed bonus, and Master Monk's is not only the best of them by far, but also just as good as any weapon by the time you unlock the class.

In our case, we're already short on good weapons (the ones Adelle and Cid brought with them are our best at this point, which is saying something), so Master Monks are even better!

What's more is that mastering Shieldbearer allows Cid and the generic Bangaa to equip two shields without hurting the damage potential at all. In the case of the generic Bangaa (who is better than Cid at this point), we're speaking of 34 (!) Evasion here, which is a 1/3 chance of almost any attack missing him. Makes him a tank hard to take down after all the level-ups as Warrior.

I wanted to start boosting Sequencer and Peytral as early as possible, so I did the first two king of Cinquleur missions at this point in the game.

As you can see, my characters can barely hurt them. The generic Master Monk is the most reliable character here, followed by Cid and Adelle. I for some reason expected Luso to do okay damage to, and look just how feeble that Screech attack was!

Trivia: Screech is a move dependent on the magic power stat that is still affected by the facing of the target. Very interesting. I wonder if there are any other moves of similar properties, because I used to be convinced facing affects physical damage only.

The Blue King is the hardest of the two, knowing Magic Frenzy and doublewielding weapons. You can see in the video that I'm trying hard to separate Cid from the other bangaa, my only two adequate attackers here, so that they are not killed in one turn. If it hadn't been for that trap, I would have lost this one for sure, nothing strikes through his defences with my levels.

i havent seen one of you're videos in a long time lol

  • I don't think I've ever taken a break longer than a month since I registered... I still upload stuff pretty regularly.

  • hey dude ima do a race only challenge when should i focus on getting the race i want?

  • When you can rest for 200 days at the geezer's hut, I suppose. Best time to hire the units you want, and you won't have to take hundreds of steps on the map just to get another unit.

If you want Gria though, you'll have to wait until you can visit the second continent.

  • which is after wanted:gilmunto right?

  • @ThortonBolt Technally the Luso from WoL is from THIS game.

  • the main guy looks just like Luso from FFT: WOL

  • I just noticed that you named Luso "CptMurasa". *bangs head for not noticing the awesomesauce.

  • You had more fun in beating this than I did. Yeah, using Item Loring, Mirror Iteming Rangers make the chain of quests laughably easy but ruins the fun.

    You go, pro.
