Dorothy Sadie Howell (Known to many as "Dot" but to most as "Nanny") May 19, 1917-January 18, 2012 Dorothy Sadie Howell passed away on January 18, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care due to complications from pneumonia.

She was a beloved widow, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who blessed many in her 94 years. Dorothy was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tresouthick. She had two siblings, Harry and Clara. "Dot" married Kenneth Arthur Howell on July 4, 1937 and even after 94 years of living, could share detailed stories of their life together, beginning with the first day they met. Five years after they married, they gave birth to their first daughter, Carol Dorothy.

Later the couple gave birth to a second daughter, Deborah Ann and moved to Jamestown, NC. The Howells eventually settled in the Winston-Salem area and began their journey as two of the most supportive grandparents that ever lived. We lost our "Poppy" in 1993, and although devastated, Nanny continued her legacy as a strong-willed, "fireball" until the day she left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father.

She is survived by daughters Carol Davis of Lewisville, Debbie Cutler and husband Joe of Concord, grandchildren Kelly Huskey, Amy Allen, Jeffrey Davis, Anna Cutler, and Joseph Cutler: six great grandchildren. She will be missed greatly but the gratitude we have will only grow. We are the family we are because of the woman she was. Rest in peace sweet, sweet, Nanny.
