  • Tophats and monocles yes, you forgot they're drinking cheap champagne from glasses too, as they're driving through forests.

  • Cute.

  • Suverän animation. Lika uppfinningsrik som skitvagnen.

  • @exicci Doesn't fit do it

  • @rob583

Well most planes are still not stealth/silent enough. So considering that they have to hunt for an APC that has already taken cover, while coming into range for hostile AA-Guns and SAM:s....

Not to mention all the decoys.

perfect AMOS can target, hit, destroy ussr russia missile SS-18 rocket with a truck

  • @Auschwitch Of course this all pre-supposes that you're fighting a war without air support. A fire-finder system would lock on to the location immediately. The sound would travel faster than the rounds, considering it's in a linear path, while the mortars are in a parabolic one.

I'm not saying this isn't an awesome system, it is. But the thing is far from stealth, silent, or mobile enough to evade tank-killing air support that is on constant patrol. It's called having realistic expectations.

  • @rob583 Interesting theory. However if we do a quick calculation we find that should said vehicle fire at a target in maximum range (13 km) it would take the SOUND approximately 40 seconds to reach the target: Less time than it takes for the mortar to unleash a full salvo of 14 rounds MRSI. By the time it could be tracked it would already be moving toward another location. Mobility is the prime means of defense for any vehicle carrying this particular weapon system.

  • On a side note the mortar can be fitted to a wide range of vehicles. Modified APCs, Light tanks, even boats.

There's also an even lighter variant of the AMOS (Advanced MOrtar System) that goes under the name of "NEMO" (NEw MOrtar System) - Basically it's a single barrel version of AMOS with the added benefit of being able to be mounted on an even wider scale of existing vehicles due to its light weight. (~1500kg)

I just hope I never have to see one of these in REAL action...

Ummm.... Yea, check that wiki. Double check it if you must.

While the vehicle is indeed a CV90 of swedish design, this particular one (GRKPBV) fitted with the AMOS system, the whole point of the video is showcasing said mortar system - not the vehicle it's mounted on.

And since you're so keen on pointing people to wikipedia, do a quick search for "AMOS".

Once you see that it is indeed manufactured by Patria (Finnish company) you might want to, you know, bow your head in shame.
