My favorite part!

That choir requires some German lessons, but the orchestra played beautifully.

Melody as the purpose of the movement, records itself on the x. Her importance retreats a bit, due to the slower tempo, while she lets mystical waves of bliss manifest from the internal of the phonemes and from the orchestra which surrounds them. But here lies the trick: The Maestro would not dare to degrade the melody’s importance in the least, if he wasn’t sure that you already know the tune of the chorus too well!...

What you lose as musical action of the chorus, is partially restored by the rising of the comprehensibility of the instrumental movement, which gains a few points in importance. The 3-dimensional musical idea of the piece becomes more apparent: The heavier “male” phonetics of the chorus are marked on the y-coordinate, while the lighter “female” music of the orchestra surrounds almost equally the chorus on the z.

@xglserver We are so much used to listen to the choral in a certain tempo, that we forget that the maestro has the right to hasten or slow the tempo. The great Kurt Mazur here chooses something that initially seems unnecessarily radical: Choosing a slower rendition, he enhances the sense of presence against the sense of direction purpose, so your ear may focus on the internal of the phonemes, revealing previously neglected light and lyricism.

Qu'ils s'enlacent tous les êtres !
Un baiser au monde entier !
Frères, au plus haut des cieux
Doit regner un tendre père
Tous les êtres se prosternent ?
Pressens-tu ce père, Monde ?
Cherche-le au-dessus des cieux d'étoiles ! Von Schiller
