Aquaculture expert Professor Berta Levavi-Sivan of Hebrew University's Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment explains eco-friendly fish farming techniques with Talkine host Zev Brenner at AFHU's Healing the World educational symposium November 3, 2010 in New York. The evening with Hebrew University faculty and other experts was hosted by AFHU's Greater New York Region in partnership with Ramaz Middle School.

Professor Levavi-Sivan is in the forefront of Israel's outreach to developing nations. She works with colleagues at Makerere University in Uganda to combat depleted fish supplies in Lake Victoria and has helped Uganda to spawn several species of African carp. This vital fish farming project has been financed in large part by the US Agency for International Development. In Israel, Professor Levavi-Sivan has collaborated with colleagues to successfully raise Israel's first sturgeon. She joined Hebrew University in 1999.
