Montana Bull Elk Hunting. Short trailer tracking down a nice elk shot with a bow the night before. The shot was 25-30 yards and we thought a good kill shot. Unfortunately, the original shot wasn't as good as originally thought and tracking was difficult. However, with good persistence tracking we found him and were able to expire the animal quickly. Scared the crap out of me though! Make sure to check out http://www.mtmybackyard.com/

  • southfork bull?

  • @skihuntfish08 Yep!

  • yeah, it looked like that from what I could see. Did you touch a piece of liver? looked like there was that chance...

  • @BCHUNTER257 Yes, i believe it did glaze the liver. That is what caused the initial amount and dark red color of the blood. The exit wound then got clogged with fat and slowed the external bleeding.

  • Where did you hit him the first shot the night before?

  • @BCHUNTER257 It was back and low of the kill zone. Basically a low gut shot. The shot obviously created a good blood trail for the first 50-60 yards but we ended up finding him using tracks and very small drops of blood.

  • So the elk suffered a slow and painful death.

  • Pretty bad shooting to be honest... Even with a training wheels bow, you can't hit lungs?

  • @RoosterRoox if you would have looked the first arrow hit him in the guts and the second arrow hit it in the torso hittting either the lungs or heart

  • seth rogen's dad?

  • @RoosterRoox look at the angle of the second arrow. The first arrow went in perpendicular to the elk, probably not hitting the vitals, heart or lungs, the second arrow was put an inch in front of the first one but the angle was much different, it was more at a 45 degree angle going in towards the lungs and heart. Probably didnt suffer much longer after the second shot.

  • If the the First arrow didn't kill him, why the heck would you shoot him again within an inch of the first shot?...that was a sad kill, slow and cruel death, he even looked at the shooter after the second shot then died!...good kill, yet too slow.

  • hell of a tracking job buddy, especially off a gut shot

  • IS elk hunting jsut about not the best thing going or what?
