@courtneysimpson88 It´s really by the mysterous A. Nonymus..., but at first set and published as a Courante by Michael Praetorius in his "Terpsichore" (1612), i.,e. 40 years earlier than Playford did !

Grimstock is my favourite country dance song! Do you know who it was written by? My favourite version is from A&E's Pride and Prejudice, played on the pianoforte.

It's an English traditional. John Playford first put it on paper in 1654 in his book "The English Dancing Master".
