J R R Tolkien has been a huge influence on the literary and imaginative side of my life. I decided to pay a visit to his grave in Wolvercote cemetery near Oxford, England. This is a place lots of people from all over the world come to visit and to leave gifts and tokens at the graveside. When I was there I saw nobody else. It was a very thoughtful and spiritual experience.
Tolkien's tale of Beren and Luthien is the greatest love story ever told, and the fact that he linked them with himself and his wife shows the love they had for each other.

  • Thank you - that was very moving. I hope to visit his resting place myself one day.

  • I spent years thinking it was too far to travel as I live about 100 miles away from Oxford. Then I realised people come from all over the world to visit his grave. My trip wasn't so far really. And yes, it was a moving experience.

Take care and thanks for the comment.
