Lorraine Kerwood taught herself to rebuild computers and gave them to people who couldn't afford them. It was a practice that led her to set up NextStep Recycling, a nonprofit computer-recycling center that provides donated computers to people who do not ordinarily have access to technology. NextStep has recycled over 800 tons of electronic waste and placed 11,000 computers in disadvantaged communities in the United States and abroad. This short film by fbi productions, profiling her story, premiered at the Sixth Annual Volvo for life Awards ceremony in New York in March 2008.
