A delicious, easy, and spicy stew. This is my version of the Ethiopian traditional Misir Wot. Two ingredients will be key: berbere (Ethiopian pepper mixture - recipe found at www.joelluks.com if you don't have an Ethiopian grocer near you) and black cumin (Shah Jeera at most Indian grocery stores). Start with less berbere as it is HOT! Easier to add than to take away.

  • I absolutely love it. Wish it was more accessible for more people. Delicious and nutritious. Can you ask for anything more?

  • this is good but in order to get the real test you don't have to put everything at once and let it cooked instead especially after you put the "berbere" you have to cook it at about ten minutes, if it gets sticky you can add some drop of water through out the process. then put the other ingredients one by one and don't forget to stir and let it cooked from 10-15minutes the more you cooked the more it become testy. finally add the water and let it cooked.

  • @Joelluks We eat this in Eritrea(found in east Africa which is north of Ethiopia). My mother used to cook this delicious lentilis for me. We call it Timtimo.

Keep posting more habesha foods. Thank you!

  • But in Ethiopia there is no food ._.

  • ahahahahahahahahaha, too much Berbere bro.

  • if i can't find the ethiopian seasoning I will have to go for garam masala......looks great.

  • Hey thankas for posting this... I am curious, are these the same lentils that I eat on top of the Enjera when i go to the ethiopian restaurant? I am trying to recreate that experience and I'd like to lentils to be soft like at the restaurant too if possible... thanks again
