Two add-on videos to more thoroughly address and fairly criticize the H&K USP Compact. I always strive for complete honesty, fairness, and thoroughness in my reviews. I make no apologies for my opinions and preferences based on my own shooting and tactical experience... but I always want to be fair.
Here I pit the USP Compact .40 against a primary competitor the compact Glock 23. Both guns are chambered for .40 S&W caliber and are considered compact versions of their larger siblings. Here I address each of my standard gun review categories: weight, firepower, durability, reliability, accuracy, ergonomics, simplicity, accessories, price, and track record. Advantage
Glock: weight, firepower, ergonomics (mag release considered), accessories, price, and reliability (H&K mag floorplates have issues).
Advantage H&K: better grip (however easily fixed on the Glock), second strike capability, and possibly better grip angle.
Tie: durability, accuracy, and track record... both excellent.
When the tally is over, the Glock 23 does indeed. Does this mean the USP is a loser pistol. Definitely not. It's still a very accurate, tough, reliable pistol. But objectively speaking, it does lose out to the Glock 23 when the order of the day is to go "compact."

Also add: the Glock 23 is actually much more compact than the USP Compact, both in heigth, length, and width (slightly, considering slide and slide release lever). Another advantage to Glock.

  • HK is much more comfortable to handle and i'd say more reliable and accurate. My G22 has nothing on my USP40. I still like the Glocks but prefer the HK overall performance.

  • you arent fair. there are large clips for hks as well, are you pretending they do not exist and they only thought of making them for glocks?

  • my hk is the shit. Gods gun! More reliable than sunrise!

  • Ergonomics... Nigga.

  • I like the Glock's more smooth surface and it is a bit more slim.

  • Finally a comparison of equal guns. Not a comparison with an obvious winner

  • @nerfsk8er Yes

  • own both brands. but the HK feels better in my hand, especially after prolonged range sessions. Plus, I shoot it a hell of a lot more accurately. I can't give an "apples to apples" comparison. Both are different sizes, calibers, etc. The Glock is a G32 (compact .357sig) and the HK, a USP Expert. 45. Almost at the complete opposites of the spectrum. I still love my Glock though! I think they make excellent carry weapons bc they have low profile and simple controls. I'd bet my life on both.

  • I have both a Glock 17 and USP .45 fullsize. Love both of em to death, but if I had to choose a weapon to take into a firefight, it would be the USP. As far as the weight issue goes, the Glock 17 Gen 4 has more recoil than the USP and thats because USP slide weighs ALOT. I know not apples to apples, but that increased weight is a bonus to some, especially since most adults shouldn't feel fatigue or slow down from toting an extra few ounces.

  • I have a 20 round mag for my USP 40. I don't care that it extends out past the handle. Both gun's are great.
