BillDFC - it's not the railway bridge, the railway never went further than Ballachulish. The bridge was built as a road bridge in 1975; I worked as a labourer on the approach roads, and then in Summer 1975 worked as a ropeman on the ferry until October. Glen Mallie was retired then, the boats were the Glen Duror, the Glen Loy and the Glenachulish, which is the only one still working, in summer or the the Glenelg-Kylescu crossing to Skye and right now at Strome, because the road is impassable.
My grandfather was the skipper of the Ballachulish Ferry until I think about the 1950's, maybe into the 1960's, and my Grandmother ran the Ballachulish Hotel, are there any more videos from this period
