Tough Gig with Dara O'Briain doing LARP Part 1 of 3

The Comedian Dara O'Briain has been given the task of making a group of Live Action Roleplayers laugh. He spends two days exploring their hobby in the ITV show Tough Gig.

The bartender in this video that Dara goes to speak with, is Vollsanger, the fellow holding the guitar in the video response section.

It's a funny larp song, and worth a click.

I'm amazed at how seriously these people take this and how completely they can immerse themselves in their roles. Some of the role players must have careers and professional responsibilities, some must have spouses or partners, and yet they can absolutely commit to this. I'd find it so hard to stop caring about how much of a weirdo I'd appear to others to enjoy it, I think.

Anyway, Kudos to Dara for being so understanding about it all!

@JJGMTS Most English LARP including this one is taken place in a scoutcamp, the reason for this is so that it is out of the public eye. By having it private it is easier to immerse yourself and letting go of inhibitions, and the fact that everybody else are joining in also helps. Personally I find LARP a bit like swimming in a cold lake, you feel shy at first but once you leap in, any fears you got goes away, and you can't feel the cold any more - In fact it is a heck of alot of fun. :)
