@5917steam Indeed Ron is however he was skipper on the Queenscliff, I don't recall him being in command of the Freshie?? Could be wrong there. I remember this day well also: it was 1982 at the beginning of her service. I still miss the real ferries however...the Goola, Dee Why, the Styene.

Ah.....back in the day when some of the people who actually lived in Manly came from the peninsula.........
Mr Ron Hart was the skipper the Freshwater suffered a control system failure If I recall correctly and he ran her aground to save damage to the pier and injuries to his passengers and the ship as well......A fine gentleman was he.....

Yes, that type of hydrofoil was either the "Fairlight", "Dee Why" or "Curl Curl"
