A story about Sir Ernest Shackleton
This is no film, but a short story I wrote a few years back about polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. It is illustrated in my own drawings, as well as original footage combined with shots from the films "The Endurance" (2000 White Mountain Films), "Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure (2001, White Mountain Films/NOVA) as well as the A&E TV-series "Shackleton" (2002).
The story, set around ship's surgeon Alexander Macklin, is not mainly about the great adventure, but about that which sprung out of it, as Macklin travels back south with Shackleton on the "Quest", remembering the "Endurance" expedition.
Please note that English is not my first language, if any errors may annoy you.
I have read Shackleton's endourance and have great respect for the men and how they perservered. The story itself is incredible and I think that what you have done with your rendering of it brings a more poetic sense that matches well with what the photographer, Frank Hurley, brought to the voyage. Very good.
