Cornelis Hoek came to live in Thailand (Chiang Rai) nearly ten years ago. Here he pursued his "old obsession". From March 2009 onwards, he turned his creative efforts to what he terms "cornelages", detailed and intricate paper-cut photo collages which have since been successfully exhibited in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Nan and Bangkok. In september 2010 he had a very succesful exhibition at the cute little gallery HP 41 in Amsterdam.
Using scissors to create the colours on his palette and brush techniques, he brings together historically and geographically different ingredients into a carefully manipulated and visually smooth but unreal composition of an unthinkable reality.
On the 5th of september there was an exhibition in Amsterdam at Gallery HP 41 - within four hours half of the exposed collection was sold!
